God Can Use Every Write-Off

Have you ever experienced the rejection of being written off? Well, I believe that God can use every person who has ever been a written off at someone else’s expense for his glory and their good.

A write off is a reduction of the recognized value of something.

People usually write-off others when they think that person doesn’t have anything to contribute or of value to bring to the table. More, this is usually based upon experience, hear say, appearance or a gut feeling.

Scripture is full of nomads who were written off for various reasons by people of “importance”, family, friends and even enemies. In many cases the confirmation of these nomads calling came from God while the affirmation of their calling came as a result of their obedience to God. As they took action (walked in faith) on what God said the results came, whether they were immediate or in the future.

Here are a few things to consider

1. It is not your job to convince people that you have something special inside of you that God has been cultivating and developing before the creation of the world. God knew what he wanted to do with your life before you were born. Never trust the process, rather – trust Him in the process. Trusting the process alone can potentially lead you toward taking your eyes off of Him. And now – every write off, flaw, mistake, failure, sin and mishap is magnified and impacts you greater because your frame of reference has shifted from God to you or your situation.
2. All things work together for your good because you are called according to his purpose. The good, the bad and the ugly in your life work together in favor for your life. They are meant to position you for good stuff not horrible things. These things don’t work together for your good because your plans are irreproachable, or because you are more morally upright than the next person. It works together for your good because of the Father’s great love for you.
   

   And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[a] for those who are called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28

3. Maybe God has you hidden. Moses knew that he had to do something when he saw his Hebrew brother’s being beaten by the Egyptians. So, he murdered an Egyptian and eventually fled to the backside of the mountain to escape death. It was during this part of Moses’ life when God began to reveal himself in a deeper and more intimate way. God began to work something miraculous in him away from the people who rejected him. He personally pastored Moses’ heart and prepared him to walk into his destiny. Years later he shows up on the scene before Pharaoh, with and an unassuming power and authority from God unlike any before him.

Therefore, let them write you off. Let people put your ability, potential, character and calling in jail and throw away the key. Because when people write you off and out of the story God writes you in because he’s the author of the story. Scripture says he is the author and finisher of our faith. When it’s impossible with man, it’s possible with God. When man looks at the outward appearance, God looks at the heart. When man looks at your track record God says, old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Remember, God has not written you off because his work in you isn’t done.

So, stop trying to convince people how special and great you are. God alone will get glory for your story – he doesn’t need a co-author. He needs someone that’s willing to say… Here I am Lord, send me I’ll go.
